Legal
Terminology and professional-services disclosures.
The precise meaning of the words we use — stated once, applied everywhere on this site.
The short version
HIPAA does not provide or recognize an official private certification. ClearCompliance provides readiness, implementation, and assessment services; clients remain responsible for their legal obligations. SOC 2 reports are issued by independent qualified CPA firms. ClearCompliance is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
About HIPAA terminology
- There is no official, government-recognized private HIPAA certification. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services does not endorse any certification product, seal, or badge.
- When we say "HIPAA compliance program," we mean the documented policies, risk analysis, training, agreements, and procedures your organization operates. When we say "readiness assessment," we mean our professional evaluation of that program against the rules' requirements — not a legal determination.
- Implementing our program supports compliance; it does not transfer, discharge, or insure your organization's legal obligations, and it does not guarantee the absence of violations or enforcement.
About SOC 2 terminology
- SOC 2 is an attestation examination defined by the AICPA. The report and opinion are issued by an independent, qualified CPA firm engaged directly by you — never by ClearCompliance.
- We provide readiness services and audit coordination. We do not perform the examination, and we structure our work to preserve the auditor's independence.
- The CPA firm's fee is quoted by that firm and is never included in our prices.
- We do not guarantee a clean report, an unqualified opinion, or a fixed report date — those depend on your controls and the auditor's independent judgment.
Professional limitations
- ClearCompliance is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Entity-status close calls, breach determinations, and contract interpretation belong with qualified counsel, and we will say so when they arise.
- Timelines published on this site are targets based on stated assumptions, not commitments; actual timelines depend on client responsiveness, environment complexity, existing maturity, and auditor availability.
- The readiness assessment on this site produces an educational estimate only — not a legal opinion, audit conclusion, or certification.
- We publish customer names, testimonials, partner relationships, certifications, and statistics only when real and evidenced. Product-style visuals labeled "illustrative" are concept illustrations, not screenshots of live software.
